{"data":{"id":"us-ak/as-08.36.370","jurisdiction":"us-ak","citation":"AS 08.36.370","heading":"Definitions for chapter.","body":"In this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise,\n(1) “board” means the Board of Dental Examiners;\n(2) “calculus” means a hardened deposit of mineralized plaque;\n(3) “coronal polishing” means the removal of supragingival plaque and stains;\n(4) “dental assistant” means a person employed to provide clinical assistance to a dentist licensed in the state;\n(5) “department” means the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development;\n(6) “impaired practitioner” means a person who is unfit to practice dentistry due to addiction or dependence on alcohol or other drugs that impair the practitioner's ability to practice safely;\n(7) “licensed dental hygienist” means a dental hygienist licensed under AS 08.32;\n(8) “licensed dentist” means a dentist licensed under this chapter;\n(9) “opioid” includes the opium and opiate substances and opium and opiate derivatives listed in AS 11.71.140 and 11.71.160;\n(10) “registered dental assistant” means a dental assistant registered under this chapter.","path":["Title 8.
