Code § 13A-11-220","heading":"Creating a Hazard.","body":"(a) A person commits the crime of creating a hazard if:\n(1) Having discarded, in any place accessible to children, a container having a compartment of more than one and one half cubic feet capacity and a door or lid that locks or fastens automatically when closed and cannot easily be opened from the inside, he fails to remove the door, lid or locking or fastening device; or\n(2) Being the owner or otherwise having possession of land upon which there is an abandoned well, cistern or cesspool of a depth of four feet or more and a top width of 12 inches or more, he fails to fill, cover or fence it with a suitable protective construction.\n(b) Creating a hazard is a Class B misdemeanor.","path":["Title 13A Criminal Code.","Chapter 11 Offenses Against Public Order and Safety.","Article 10 Miscellaneous Offenses Relating to Public Safety."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=13A-11-220","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:52Z","sha256":"16b37b5b5c596e501fd77368b5c445e1a8dc01050e9e8d842b7ada29348e6565","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-13a-11-204","next":"us-al/ala.-code-13a-11-221"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
