Code § 14-11-70","heading":"Prohibited Activities; Violations.","body":"(a) No inmate in the custody of the Department of Corrections or city and county jails shall establish or maintain an account on any Internet-based social networking website.\n(b) For purposes of this section, social networking website means an Internet-based website that has any of the following capabilities:\n(1) Allows users to create web pages or profiles about themselves that are available to the general public or to any other users.\n(2) Offers a mechanism for communication among users, such as a forum, chat room, electronic mail, or instant messaging.\n(c) Any inmate or other person working in conjunction with a state correction’s inmate who violates this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500).","path":["Title 14 Criminal Correctional and Detention Facilities.","Chapter 11 Offenses Concerning Prisoners and Prisons.","Article 4 Social Networking by Inmates."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=14-11-70","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:53Z","sha256":"77cf7c15056c3358afb5e0857045df7e13a55e7ab47dbece87b6122053f135e8","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-14-11-51","next":"us-al/ala.-code-14-12-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
