Code § 15-23-19","heading":"Penalties - Failure of Commission Member to Disclose Conflict of Interest.","body":"(a) A member, agent or employee of the Alabama Crime Victims Compensation Commission commits the crime of failing to disclose a conflict of interest if such member, agent or employee exercises any discretionary function in connection with a commission contract, purchase, payment or other pecuniary transaction pertaining to the commission without advance public disclosure of a known potential conflicting interest in the transaction.\n(b) A “potential conflicting interest” exists, but is not limited to, when the member, agent or employee of the commission is a director, president, general manager or similar executive officer, or owns directly or indirectly a substantial portion of any nongovernmental entity participating in the transaction.\n(c) Public disclosure shall mean a public announcement and written notification to the Attorney General.\n(d) Failing to disclose a conflict of interest is a Class C felony.","path":["Title 15 Criminal Procedure.","Chapter 23 Alabama Crime Victims.","Article 1 Crime Victims’ Compensation."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=15-23-19","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:52Z","sha256":"9499ce01a4973dc0ed6c142fd60f65d659d94774014a5507a0c8c4f834ffe431","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-15-23-18","next":"us-al/ala.-code-15-23-20"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
