Code § 16-1-2.2","heading":"New Construction at Public Two-Year and Four-Year Institutions of Higher Education to Include Approved Safe Space or Hallway.","body":"(a) Commencing on August 1, 2012, any new contract awarded for the construction of a new building, containing classrooms or dorm rooms, on the grounds of a public two-year or four-year institution of higher education shall include a Division of Construction Management approved safe space or hallway rated for tornadoes.\n(b) The State Department of Postsecondary Education and the separate boards of trustees of the four-year institutions of higher education in the state shall coordinate with the Division of Construction Management to develop, adopt, and enforce any rules necessary for the implementation of this section.","path":["Title 16 Education.","Chapter 1 General Provisions."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=16-1-2.2","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:53Z","sha256":"dabbdf61caeb105129499073df55b4a078e8be813eadf3fd215bbc450f7142c9","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-16-1-2.1","next":"us-al/ala.-code-16-1-2.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
