Code § 16-23-25","heading":"Experience Credit for Certain Certified Teachers Who Previously Worked as a Paraprofessional or Classroom Teacher’s Aide.","body":"(a) A teacher with at least four years of full-time experience as a paraprofessional or classroom teacher’s aide in a public school who is: (i) issued a teacher certificate pursuant to this chapter; and (ii) hired into a position requiring such certification, shall receive one year of experience credit on the local teacher salary schedule established pursuant to Section 16-13-231.1 for every two years of full-time experience that he or she earned in a public school as a paraprofessional or classroom teacher’s aide prior to being hired as a certified teacher.\n(b) This section shall only apply to teachers hired into a position requiring teacher certification on or after June 1, 2024.","path":["Title 16 Education.","Chapter 23 Teacher Training and Certification."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=16-23-25","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:54Z","sha256":"9f2074274e975fd108b090c07e74e742b550831d604d9802aae67d8e7279647d","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-16-23-24","next":"us-al/ala.-code-16-23a-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
