Code § 2-33-5","heading":"Health Benefits Contracts; Participant Certification.","body":"(a) Health benefits contracts provided under this chapter shall not be subject to individual post-claim medical underwriting while coverage remains in effect, and no member covered under a health benefits contract provided under this chapter shall be subject to cancellation, nonrenewal, modification, or increase in premium for reason of a medical event.\n(b) In order to purchase health benefits offered by a nonprofit agricultural organization under this chapter, an individual shall certify that he or she does not have the option to participate in an employer-sponsored health plan, or that he or she has the option to participate in an employer-sponsored health plan but the cost to the individual is more than nine percent of his or her household income.","path":["Title 2 Agriculture.","Chapter 33 Health Benefits Offered by Nonprofit Agricultural Organizations."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=2-33-5","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:54Z","sha256":"22093a663e532dfb3f4660d0fbd665ce7ab8532d04cbf9a6cf7a0b7a8dd59604","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-2-33-4","next":"us-al/ala.-code-2-33-6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
