Code § 26-10B-3","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:\n(1) STATE. A state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, or a territory or possession of or administered by the United States.\n(2) ADOPTION ASSISTANCE STATE. The state that is signatory to an adoption assistance agreement in a particular case.\n(3) RESIDENCE STATE.
