Code § 27-19-1","heading":"Applicability of Article.","body":"Nothing in this article shall apply to or affect:\n(1) Any policy of liability or workmen’s compensation insurance, with or without supplementary expense coverage therein;\n(2) Any group or blanket policy;\n(3) Life insurance, endowment, or annuity contracts, or contracts supplemental thereto which contain only such provisions relating to disability insurance as:\na. Provide additional benefits in case of death or dismemberment or loss of sight by accident; or\nb. Operate to safeguard such contracts against lapse or to give a special surrender value, or special benefit or an annuity in the event that the insured or annuitant becomes totally and permanently disabled, as defined by the contract or supplemental contract;\n(4) Reinsurance; or\n(5) Industrial insurance, which is disability insurance issued under policies sold on a debit basis, bearing the words “industrial policy” imprinted on the face of the policy as part of the descriptive matter, and with premiums payable monthly or more often.","path":["Title 27 Insurance.","Chapter 19 Disability Insurance Policies.","Article 1 General Provisions."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=27-19-1","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:51Z","sha256":"050ea8393d3fb36bd658fcdeafcd5481b29277ccae0e9d5e44e691e8cadf8c9c","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-27-18-16","next":"us-al/ala.-code-27-19-2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
