Code § 27-31-17","heading":"Determination of Financial Condition.","body":"In determining the financial condition of a reciprocal insurer, the commissioner shall apply the following rules:\n(1) He shall charge as liabilities the same reserves as are required of incorporated insurers issuing nonassessable policies on a reserve basis;\n(2) The surplus deposits of subscribers shall be allowed as assets, except that any premium deposits delinquent for 90 days shall first be charged against such surplus deposit;\n(3) The surplus deposits of subscribers shall not be charged as a liability;\n(4) All premium deposits delinquent less than 90 days shall be allowed as assets;\n(5) An assessment levied upon subscribers and not collected shall not be allowed as an asset;\n(6) The contingent liability of subscribers shall not be allowed as an asset; and\n(7) The computation of reserves shall be based upon premium deposits, other than membership fees, and without any deduction for expenses and the compensation of the attorney.","path":["Title 27 Insurance.","Chapter 31 Reciprocal Insurers."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=27-31-17","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:51Z","sha256":"457845a58b2f3475b703de7c0c8f68b31db313ac42c63a0754b3d911bb769cf4","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-27-31-16","next":"us-al/ala.-code-27-31-18"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
