Code § 27-44-6","heading":"Creation of Association; Membership; Accounts; Supervision.","body":"(a) There is created a nonprofit unincorporated legal entity to be known as the Alabama Life and Disability Insurance Guaranty Association. All member insurers shall be and remain members of the association as a condition of their authority to transact insurance in this state. The association shall perform its functions under the plan of operation established and approved under Section 27-44-10 and shall exercise its powers through a board of directors established under Section 27-44-7. For purposes of administration and assessment the association shall maintain three accounts:\n(1) The disability insurance account;\n(2) The life insurance account; and\n(3) The annuity account.\n(b) The association shall come under the immediate supervision of the commissioner and shall be subject to the applicable provisions of the insurance laws of this state.","path":["Title 27 Insurance.","Chapter 44 Life and Disability Insurance Guaranty Association."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=27-44-6","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:51Z","sha256":"267a166ec089322c313cade2688e91c0562345bf710bcbedd9676f40f2a26bbc","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-27-44-5","next":"us-al/ala.-code-27-44-7"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
