Code § 32-5A-215","heading":"Pedestrians on Roadways.","body":"(a) Where a sidewalk is provided and its use is practicable, it shall be unlawful for any pedestrian to walk along and upon an adjacent roadway.\n(b) Where a sidewalk is not available, any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall walk only on a shoulder, as far as practicable from the edge of the roadway.\n(c) Where neither a sidewalk nor a shoulder is available any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall walk as near as practicable to an outside edge of the roadway, and if on a two-way roadway, shall walk only on the left side of the roadway.\n(d) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, any pedestrian upon a roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.","path":["Title 32 Motor Vehicles and Traffic.","Chapter 5A Rules of the Road.","Article 10 Pedestrians’ Rights and Duties."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=32-5A-215","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:51Z","sha256":"a592483f32f810bd3cb10a88f4c22fedefa608abd3fa7ad1ac56996a0b937fbf","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-32-5a-214","next":"us-al/ala.-code-32-5a-216"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
