Code § 45-58-202.08","heading":"Additional Motor Vehicle License and Registration Issuance Fee; Disposition of Funds.","body":"(a)(1) The Shelby County Commission may levy and provide for the collection of an annual additional motor vehicle license and registration issuance fee in the amount of up to two dollars ($2) on each new registration, transfer, or renewal on any vehicle in the county with the motor vehicle license and registration year commencing on January 1 following the commission’s levy of the new fee.\n(2) The fee authorized by this section may only be for one continuing annual fee of up to two dollars ($2).\n(3) The county’s license issuing official shall collect the issuance fee on each new registration, transfer, or renewal on a vehicle in the county.\n(4) The fee shall be in addition to all other fees, taxes, or other charges provided for the license and registration of a vehicle.\n(b) The license issuing official, on a monthly basis, shall distribute the proceeds from this section to the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Fund to be used for law enforcement purposes in the county.\n(c) Any fee established pursuant to this section and the use of the proceeds from such a fee shall not diminish or take the place of any other source of income established for the sheriff or the operation of the sheriff’s office.","path":["Title 45 Local Laws.","Chapter 58 Shelby County.","Article 20 Licenses and Licensing.","Part 3 License Issuing Division."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=45-58-202.08","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:54Z","sha256":"c35dac77090d6ac7dbf4cf0516585e5945d84d5e1062d4287ab2b527c2d56d2e","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-45-58-202.07","next":"us-al/ala.-code-45-58-230"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
