{"data":{"id":"us-al/ala.-code-45-58-72.01","jurisdiction":"us-al","citation":"Ala. Code § 45-58-72.01","heading":"Adoption of Ordinances and Resolutions Regarding Use of Certain Public Property; Violations.","body":"(a) The Shelby County Commission may adopt ordinances or resolutions providing rules and regulations relating to the use of its properties including, but not limited to, its public parks, recreational areas, public buildings and facilities, and real property owned or leased by Shelby County, or properties over which Shelby County has the right of possession. The applicable law enforcement entities located within the county or the county manager, or both, are directed to implement and enforce the rules and regulations established by the county commission.\n(b) Any person who violates any ordinances or resolutions by violating any rule or regulation adopted by the Shelby County Commission pursuant to subsection (a) shall be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor punishable as provided by law.\n(c) No ordinance or resolution adopted pursuant to this section may conflict with state law.\n(d) An ordinance or resolution may provide that a person charged with a violation may be issued a non-traffic citation and complaint to appear in the district court of the county.\n(e) The county commission shall keep a copy of all ordinances or resolutions adopted pursuant to this section available for public inspection at the offices of the county manager.\n(f) This section is adopted pursuant to Section 6 of Amendment 707 to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, now appearing as Section 58–3.00 of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022.","path":["Title 45 Local Laws.","Chapter 58 Shelby County.","Article 7 County Commissions.","Part 3 Duties.","Subpart 1 General Provisions."],"source_url":"https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama?section=45-58-72.01","current_through":"Act 2026-611","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T14:01:54Z","sha256":"bd53296003089398f5934c78a968c4b259516874b972bfb1a99cf0d45cd29c1d","source_id":"us-al","stale":false,"prev":"us-al/ala.-code-45-58-72","next":"us-al/ala.-code-45-58-72.20"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
