Code Ann. § 14-125-103","heading":"Legislative determination - Consequences of erosion","body":"It is declared, as a matter of legislative determination, that the consequences of soil erosion in the form of soil-washing and soil-blowing are:\n\n(1) The silting and sedimentation of stream channels, reservoirs, dams, ditches, and harbors;\n\n(2) The loss of fertile soil material in dust storms;\n\n(3) The piling up of soil on lower slopes and its deposit over alluvial plains;\n\n(4) The reduction in productivity or outright ruin of rich bottom lands by overwash of poor subsoil material, sand, and gravel swept out of the hills;\n\n(5) Deterioration of soil and its fertility, deterioration of crops grown thereon, and declining acre yields despite development of scientific processes for increasing such yields;\n\n(6) Loss of soil and water which causes destruction of food and cover for wildlife;\n\n(7) A washing and blowing of soil into streams which silts over spawning beds and destroys water plants, diminishing the food supply of fish;\n\n(8) A diminishing of the underground water reserve, which causes water shortages, intensifies periods of drought, and causes crop failures;\n\n(9) An increase in the speed and volume of rainfall runoff, causing severe and increasing floods, which bring suffering, disease, and death;\n\n(10) Impoverishment of families attempting to farm eroding and eroded lands;\n\n(11) Damage to roads, highways, railways, farm buildings, and other property from floods and from dust storms; and\n\n(12) Losses in navigation, hydroelectric power, municipal water supply, irrigation developments, farming, and grazing.","path":["AR Code","Title 14","Chapter 125","Subchapter 1"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_ar_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:41Z","sha256":"6d53e543048599bd3b210dbd8200cc41b1340e3ee5eadd07d018151affd45450","source_id":"us-ar","stale":false,"prev":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-14-125-102","next":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-14-125-104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
