Code Ann. § 14-37-114","heading":"Reduction of city of the first class to city of the second class","body":"(a) Whenever the last federal census shows that any city of the first class has less than five thousand (5,000) inhabitants, the city may be reduced to a city of the second class upon the adoption of a resolution by the council of the municipal corporation requesting that the grade of the municipal corporation be reduced.\n\n(b) The Board of Municipal Corporations, upon the receipt of a certified copy of the resolution, shall make an order reducing the grade of the municipal corporation, and, upon being advised of the action of the board, the Governor shall cause a statement thereof to be prepared and transmitted to the mayor of the city stating the grade to which the municipal corporation has been reduced.","path":["AR Code","Title 14","Chapter 37"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_ar_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:41Z","sha256":"d59868eacea2085ddd4f73100f7d0a7d3a5e9a11b35dfc0d8ec0ad79fd2a366c","source_id":"us-ar","stale":false,"prev":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-14-37-113","next":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-14-386-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
