Code Ann. § 15-4-1709","heading":"Exceptions","body":"(a) A county that does not qualify as a high-unemployment county, as defined in § 15-4-1702 , but has experienced a sudden and severe period of economic distress caused by the closing of a business entity that results in the loss of a minimum of five hundred (500) full-time permanent jobs or a minimum of five percent (5%) of the employed labor force, as determined by the most recent \"Labor Market Information\" publication published by the Division of Workforce Services, may be designated as a high-unemployment county by the Arkansas Economic Development Council.\n\n(b) The designation as a \"high-unemployment county\" shall be in effect for one (1) year after the closing of the business.","path":["AR Code","Title 15","Chapter 4","Subchapter 17"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_ar_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:41Z","sha256":"63e8094363ba50d0fdf2150f7b500d5c88a91e0848e832247781b1bb128256b5","source_id":"us-ar","stale":false,"prev":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-15-4-1705","next":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-15-4-1801"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
