Code Ann. § 20-15-1502","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in this subchapter:\n\n(1) \"Birth admission\" means the time after birth that the newborn remains in the hospital nursery before discharge;\n\n(2) \"Birthing hospital\" means any hospital located within the State of Arkansas that delivers newborns;\n\n(3) \"Follow-up care\" and \"follow-up screening\" mean the follow-up services provided by a licensed audiologist to diagnose a hearing loss;\n\n(4) \"Hearing loss\" means an impairment that is a dysfunction of the auditory system of any type or degree sufficient to interfere with acquisition and development of speech and language skills;\n\n(5) \"Hearing screening\" means a bilateral physiological measurement of hearing on a newborn or infant;\n\n(6) \"Infant\" means a child thirty (30) days to twelve (12) months old;\n\n(7) \"Intervention\" means amplification by a licensed audiologist as required and early intervention services described in Part H of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act as in effect January 1, 1999;\n\n(8) \"Newborn\" means a child up to twenty-nine (29) days old;\n\n(9) \"Parent\" means a natural parent, stepparent, adoptive parent, legal guardian, or other legal custodian of a child;\n\n(10) \"Program\" means the Newborn Infant Hearing Screening Program; and\n\n(11) \"Provider\" means an audiologist licensed by the State of Arkansas who administers initial newborn and infant hearing screenings upon referral from a hospital or physician or follow-up screenings outside of the hospital setting.","path":["AR Code","Title 20","Chapter 15","Subchapter 15"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_ar_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:41Z","sha256":"97e7e435da9c88e5a2e43602032e34df167955eec29b6a6960fc46d4468fc035","source_id":"us-ar","stale":false,"prev":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-20-15-1501","next":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-20-15-1503"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
