Code Ann. § 23-10-423","heading":"Package freight unloaded by railroad - Storage charges","body":"(a) All package freight unloaded by railroad companies in their depots and warehouses and all freight unloaded in the yard space of a railroad company in order to release cars and which has not been removed by the owner thereof from the custody of the railroad company within forty-eight (48) hours, computing from 7:00 a.m. of the day following legal notice of arrival, may be subject to the charge of storage for each day or fraction of a day it may remain in the custody of the railroad company, as follows: (1) On less than carloads, not more than one cent (1¢) per one hundred pounds (100 lbs.) per day, or fraction of a day; and (2) In carload quantities, not more than ten cents (10¢) per ton of two thousand pounds (2,000 lbs.) per day or fraction of a day, but not exceeding one dollar ($1.00) per car per day, or fraction of a day. (b) In no case shall the amount so collected for storage of a less-than-carload shipment exceed the amount authorized to be charged as storage on a carload of similar freight for the same length of time when not unloaded from a car, as provided by § 23-10-424 .
