Code Ann. § 5-41-101","heading":"Purpose","body":"It is found and determined that:\n\n(1) Computer-related crime poses a major problem for business and government;\n\n(2) Losses for each incident of computer-related crime are potentially astronomical;\n\n(3) The opportunities for computer-related crime in business and government through the introduction of fraudulent records into a computer system, the unauthorized use of computers, the alteration or destruction of computerized information or files, and the stealing of financial instruments, data, and other assets are great;\n\n(4) Computer-related crime has a direct effect on state commerce; and\n\n(5) While various forms of computer-related crime might possibly be the subject of criminal charges based on other provisions of law, it is appropriate and desirable that a statute be enacted which deals directly with computer-related crime.","path":["AR Code","Title 5","Chapter 41","Subchapter 1"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_ar_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:41Z","sha256":"f0a66e4588ebccccd013a8f901068cfb28666c89cd6c7671e2a744cb4fcd48d3","source_id":"us-ar","stale":false,"prev":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-5-40-103","next":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-5-41-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
