Code Ann. § 6-51-622","heading":"Noncommercial driver training instruction","body":"(a) A person teaching or instructing a person seventeen (17) years of age or younger to drive a noncommercial motor vehicle or a motorcycle shall offer the minimum amount of driver training to the student driver as prescribed by this section. (b) The minimum requirements for classroom driver training instruction for noncommercial motor vehicles shall consist of: (1) Thirty (30) hours or more of classroom instruction on driving techniques and rules of the road in Arkansas, including six (6) hours of classroom instruction on traffic law changes that have occurred within the last ten (10) years; and (2) Ten (10) hours of behind-the-wheel driving experience. (c) The minimum requirements of correspondence programs for driver training instruction for noncommercial motor vehicles shall consist of: (1) A maximum of twenty-eight (28) hours of correspondence work; (2) A minimum of two (2) hours or more of classroom instruction on driving techniques and rules of the road in Arkansas; and (3) Ten (10) hours of behind-the-wheel driving experience. (d) (1) In consultation with the State Board of Private Career Education, the Division of Higher Education may promulgate reasonable rules to implement, enforce, and administer this section. (2) The rules of the division shall be issued in accordance with the Arkansas Administrative Procedure Act, § 25-15-201 et seq. (e) The requirements for classroom driver training instruction for a motorcycle are: (1) A minimum of five (5) hours of classroom instruction on driving techniques and rules of the road in Arkansas; and (2) A minimum of ten (10) hours of actual motorcycle driving experience.
