Code Ann. § 9-19-104","heading":"Application to Indian tribes","body":"(a) A child-custody proceeding that pertains to an Indian child as defined in the Indian Child Welfare Act, 25 U.S.C. § 1901 et seq., is not subject to this chapter to the extent that it is governed by the Indian Child Welfare Act.\n\n(b) A court of this state shall treat a tribe as if it were a state of the United States for the purpose of applying subchapters 1 and 2 of this chapter.\n\n(c) A child-custody determination made by a tribe under factual circumstances in substantial conformity with the jurisdictional standards of this chapter must be recognized and enforced under subchapter 3 of this chapter.","path":["AR Code","Title 9","Chapter 19","Subchapter 1"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_ar_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:41Z","sha256":"1225d575f7503c90272320f983191f6d57458ed277d2915addca523fcb0de2b4","source_id":"us-ar","stale":false,"prev":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-9-19-103","next":"us-ar/ark.-code-ann.-9-19-105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
