{"data":{"id":"us-az/a.r.s.-36-766","jurisdiction":"us-az","citation":"A.R.S. § 36-766","heading":"Definitions","body":"In this article, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n1. \"Department\" means the department of health services.\n\n2. \"Director\" means the director of the department.\n\n3. \"Doula\" means a trained nonmedical professional who may provide continuous physical, emotional and informational support to families before, during and after childbirth for a period of one year after birth or in the case of loss and who may serve as a liaison between the birth parents and medical and social services staff to improve the quality of medical, social and behavioral outcomes.\n\n4. \"Practice as a state-certified doula\" means a state-certified doula who provides services in accordance with the core competencies specified by this article and the rules adopted pursuant to this article.\n\n5. \"State-certified doula\" means a doula to whom the department has issued a certificate to practice as a state-certified doula in this state.","path":["Title 36 Public Health and Safety"],"source_url":"https://www.azleg.gov/ars/36/00766.htm","current_through":"2026-09-04","vintage":"2026-08-09","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:49:56Z","sha256":"96895475a9b7b539e1f51965fbfdc6abb0188075284795b7d8df572da1223c81","source_id":"us-az","stale":true,"prev":"us-az/a.r.s.-36-765.07","next":"us-az/a.r.s.-36-766.01"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
