{"data":{"id":"us-ca/fgc-2118","jurisdiction":"us-ca","citation":"FGC § 2118","heading":"","body":"It is unlawful to import, transport, possess, or release alive into this state, except under a revocable, nontransferable permit as provided in this chapter and the regulations pertaining thereto, any wild animal of the following species:\n(a) Class Aves: (birds)\nFamily Cuculidae (cuckoos)\nAll Species.\nFamily Alaudidae (larks)\nSkylark, Alauda arvensis\nFamily Corvidae (crows, jays, magpies)\nAll species.\nFamily Turdidae (thrushes)\nEuropean blackbird, Turdus merula\nMissel (or mistle), thrush, Turdus viscivorus\nFamily Sturnidae (starlings and mynas or mynahs)\nAll species of the family, except hill myna (or\nhill mynah),\nGracula religiosa (sometimes referred to as\nEulabes religiosa)\nFamily Ploceidae (weavers)\nThe following species:\nSpanish sparrow, Passer hispaniolensis\nItalian sparrow, Passer italiae\nEuropean tree sparrow, Passer montanus\nCape sparrow, Passer capensis\nMadagascar weaver, Foudia madagascariensis\nBaya weaver, Ploceus baya\nHawaiian rice bird, Munia nisoria\nRed-billed quelea, Quelea quelea\nRed-headed quelea, Quelea erythrops\nFamily Fringillidae (sparrows, finches, buntings)\nYellowhammer, Emberiza citrinella\n(b) Class Mammalia (mammals)\nOrder Primates\nAll species except those in family Hominidae\nOrder Edentata (sloths, anteaters, armadillos, etc.)\nAll species.\nOrder Marsupialia (marsupials or pouched mammals)\nAll species.\nOrder Insectivora (shrews, moles, hedgehogs, etc.)\nAll species.\nOrder Dermoptera (gliding lemurs)\nAll species.\nOrder Chiroptera (bats)\nAll species.\nOrder Monotremata (spiny anteaters, platypuses)\nAll species.\nOrder Pholidota (pangolins, scaly anteaters)\nAll species.\nOrder Lagomorpha (pikas, rabbits, hares)\nAll species, except domesticated races of rabbits.\nOrder Rodentia (rodents)\nAll species, except domesticated golden\nhamsters, also known as Syrian hamster,\nMesocricetus auratus; domesticated races of\nrats or mice (white or albino; trained,\ndancing or spinning, laboratory-reared);\nand domestic strains of guinea pig (Cavia\nporcellus).\nOrder Carnivora (carnivores)\nAll species, except domestic dogs (Canis\nfamiliaris) and domestic cats (Felis catus).\nOrder Tubulidentata (aardvarks)\nAll species.\nOrder Proboscidea (elephants)\nAll species.\nOrder Hyracoidea (hyraxes)\nAll species.\nOrder Sirenia (dugongs, manatees)\nAll species.\nOrder Perissodactyla (horses, zebras, tapirs,\nrhinoceroses, etc.)\nAll species except those of the family Equidae.\nOrder Artiodactyla (swine, peccaries, camels,\ndeer, elk, except elk (genus Cervus) which are\nsubject to Section 2118.2, moose, antelopes,\ncattle, goats, sheep, etc.)\nAll species except: domestic swine of the family\nSuidae; American bison, and domestic cattle,\nsheep and goats of the family Bovidae; races\nof big-horned sheep (Ovis canadensis) now\nor formerly indigenous to this state.\nMammals of the orders Primates, Edentata, Dermoptera, Monotremata, Pholidota, Tubulidentata, Proboscidea, Perissodactyla, Hyracoidea, Sirenia and Carnivora are restricted for the welfare of the animals, except animals of the families Viverridae and Mustelidae in the order Carnivora are restricted because such animals are undesirable and a menace to native wildlife, the agricultural interests of the state, or to the public health or safety.\n(c) Class amphibia (frogs, toads, salamanders)\nFamily Bufonidae (toads)\nGiant toad or marine toad, Bufo marinus\n(d) Class Monorhina (lampreys)\nAll species.\n(e) Class Osteichthyes (bony fishes)\nFamily Serranidae (bass)\nWhite perch, Morone or Roccus americana\nFamily Clupeidae (herring)\nGizzard shad, Dorosoma cepedianum\nFamily Sciaenidae (croakers)\nFreshwater sheepshead, Aplodinotus grunniens\nFamily Characidae (characins)\nBanded tetra, Astyanax fasciatus\nAll species of piranhas\nFamily Lepisosteidae (gars)\nAll species.\nFamily Amiidae (bowfins)\nAll species.\n(f) Class Reptilia (snakes, lizards, turtles, alligators)\nFamily Crocodilidae\nAll species.\n(g) Class Crustacea (crustaceans)\nGenus Cambarus (crayfishes)\nAll species.\nGenus Astacus (crayfishes)\nAll species.\nGenus Astacopsis (crayfishes)\nAll species.\n(h) Class Gastropoda (slugs, snails, clams)\nAll species of slugs.\nAll species of land snails.\n(i) Other classes, orders, families, genera, and species of wild animals which may be designated by the commission in cooperation with the Department of Food and Agriculture, (1) when the class, order, family, genus, or species is proven to be undesirable and a menace to native wildlife or the agricultural interests of the state, or (2) to provide for the welfare of wild animals. (j) Except as expressly authorized in this code, any live nonindigenous Atlantic salmon or the roe thereof into the Smith River watershed. (k) Classes, families, genera, and species in addition to those listed in this section may be added to or deleted from the above lists from time to time by commission regulations in cooperation with the Department of Food and Agriculture.","path":["Fish and Game Code - FGC","DIVISION 3.
