{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-120-203","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 12-120-203","heading":"Exemptions.","body":"(1) Nothing in this part 2 requires licensure as a professional engineer for the following:\n\n(a) Individuals who normally operate and maintain machinery or equipment;\n\n(b) Individuals who perform engineering services for themselves;\n\n(c) Partnerships, professional associations, joint stock companies, limited liability companies, or corporations, or the employees of any such organizations, who perform engineering services for themselves or their affiliates;\n\n(d) Individuals who perform engineering services under the responsible charge of a professional engineer;\n\n(e) Work of a strictly agricultural nature that is not required to be of public record;\n\n(f) Professional land surveying as defined in section 12-120-302 (5);\n\n(g) Individuals who are employed by and perform engineering services solely for a county, city and county, or municipality;\n\n(h) Individuals who are employed by and perform engineering services solely for the federal government;\n\n(i) Individuals who practice architecture as defined in section 12-120-402 (5);\n\n(j) Utilities or their employees or contractors when performing services for another utility during times of natural disasters or emergency situations; or\n\n(k) Individuals who practice landscape architecture as defined in section 12-130-104 (6).","path":["Title 12 - PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS","Article 120 - Engineers, Surveyors, and Architects","Part 2 - ENGINEERS"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-12.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"3c8b25265bfb223a1259af9787901703d1a7933f6b362f78efbd9a522fabc15d","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-120-202","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-120-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
