{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-135-112","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 12-135-112","heading":"Standards of practice - embalming - transporting.","body":"(1) A funeral establishment that performs embalming shall:\n\n(a) Repealed.\n\n(b) Employ universal biological hazard precautions;\n\n(c) Employ reasonable care to minimize the risk of transmitting communicable diseases from human remains;\n\n(d) Be equipped with instruments and supplies necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and employees of the funeral establishment; and\n\n(e) Transport human remains in a safe and sanitary manner.\n\n(2) A funeral establishment that transports human remains shall:\n\n(a) Use a motor vehicle that is appropriate for the transportation of human remains; and\n\n(b) Transport human remains in a manner that:\n\n(I) Is customary within the profession;\n\n(II) Is safe, sanitary, and dignified; and\n\n(III) Does not involve stacking human remains.\n\n(3) A funeral establishment shall remove any implanted device in human remains before transporting the body to a crematory or commencing cremation.\n\n(4) A funeral establishment shall maintain a sanitary preparation room with:\n\n(a) Sanitary flooring;\n\n(b) Drainage;\n\n(c) Ventilation;\n\n(d) Access to refrigeration sufficient to accommodate the needs of the funeral establishment; and\n\n(e) Other equipment necessary to maintain sanitary conditions.","path":["Title 12 - PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS","Article 135 - Mortuary Science Code","Part 1 - GENERAL PROVISIONS"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-12.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"5ebc5fed805615cbac39d07d4bb02e54534f75ca3158aa5719147442cf09921e","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-135-111","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-135-113"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
