{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-285-203","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 12-285-203","heading":"Limitations on authority.","body":"(1) Nothing in this part 2 authorizes a physical therapist assistant to perform any of the following acts:\n\n(a) Practice of medicine, surgery, or any other form of healing except as authorized by this part 2; or\n\n(b) Use of roentgen rays and radioactive materials for therapeutic purposes, use of electricity for surgical purposes, or diagnosis of disease.\n\n(2) A physical therapist assistant shall not practice physical therapy unless the assistant works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.\n\n(3) A physical therapist assistant:\n\n(a) Shall not perform sharp wound debridement;\n\n(b) May perform general wound care and nonsharp debridement, including mechanical, autolytic, enzymatic, and maggot, under the supervision of a physical therapist when debridement is consistent with the scope of physical therapy practice.","path":["Title 12 - PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS","Article 285 - Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants","Part 2 - PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANTS"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-12.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"e6ca311f8b95e1d31ab5c212deae44bbea5d1751d93638e590215aa47ee23a76","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-285-202","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-12-285-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
