{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-13-5.5-101","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 13-5.5-101","heading":"Legislative declaration.","body":"(1) It is the intent of the general assembly to provide:\n\n(a) A comprehensive evaluation system of judicial performance;\n\n(b) Information to the people of Colorado regarding the performance of judges and justices throughout the state; and\n\n(c) Transparency and accountability for judges and justices throughout the state of Colorado.\n\n(2) Therefore, the general assembly finds and declares that it is in the public interest and is a matter of statewide concern to:\n\n(a) Provide judges and justices with useful information concerning their own performances, along with training resources to improve judicial performance as necessary;\n\n(b) Establish a comprehensive system of evaluating judicial performance to provide persons voting on the retention of judges and justices with fair, responsible, and constructive information about individual judicial performance;\n\n(c) Establish an independent office on judicial performance evaluation with full authority to implement the provisions of this article 5.5; and\n\n(d) Conduct statewide judicial performance evaluations, as well as judicial performance evaluations within each judicial district, using uniform criteria and procedures pursuant to the provisions of this article 5.5.","path":["Title 13 - COURTS AND COURT PROCEDURE","Article 5.5 - Commissions on Judicial Performance"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-13.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"d8ceb6add4e878273a87b64b8eb0e314b4314d095cb797abcc4a9b41b3bd7469","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-13-5.3-113","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-13-5.5-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
