{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-14-5-704","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 14-5-704","heading":"Initiation by state department of human services of support proceeding under Convention.","body":"(a) In a support proceeding under this part 7, the state department of human services of this state shall:\n\n(1) Transmit and receive applications; and\n\n(2) Initiate or facilitate the institution of a proceeding regarding an application in a tribunal of this state.\n\n(b) The following support proceedings are available to an obligee under the Convention:\n\n(1) Recognition or recognition and enforcement of a foreign support order;\n\n(2) Enforcement of a support order issued or recognized in this state;\n\n(3) Establishment of a support order if there is no existing order, including, if necessary, determination of parentage of a child;\n\n(4) Establishment of a support order if recognition of a foreign support order is refused under section 14-5-708 (b)(2), (4), or (9);\n\n(5) Modification of a support order of a tribunal of this state; and\n\n(6) Modification of a support order of a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.\n\n(c) The following support proceedings are available under the Convention to an obligor against which there is an existing support order:\n\n(1) Recognition of an order suspending or limiting enforcement of an existing support order of a tribunal of this state;\n\n(2) Modification of a support order of a tribunal of this state; and\n\n(3) Modification of a support order of a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.\n\n(d) A tribunal of this state may not require security, bond, or deposit, however described, to guarantee the payment of costs and expenses in proceedings under the Convention.","path":["Title 14 - DOMESTIC MATTERS","Article 5 - Uniform Interstate Family Support Act","Part 7 - SUPPORT PROCEEDING UNDER CONVENTION"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-14.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"89bd85a537598174d332f152424c2ca659587dbea6ac71964892d3721229a7b0","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-14-5-703","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-14-5-705"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
