{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-12-301","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 18-12-301","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part 3, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n(1) \"Bureau\" means the Colorado bureau of investigation created and existing pursuant to section 24-33.5-401, C.R.S.\n\n(2) (a) \"Large-capacity magazine\" means:\n\n(I) A fixed or detachable magazine, box, drum, feed strip, or similar device capable of accepting, or that is designed to be readily converted to accept, more than fifteen rounds of ammunition;\n\n(II) A fixed, tubular shotgun magazine that holds more than twenty-eight inches of shotgun shells, including any extension device that is attached to the magazine and holds additional shotgun shells; or\n\n(III) A nontubular, detachable magazine, box, drum, feed strip, or similar device that is capable of accepting more than eight shotgun shells when combined with a fixed magazine.\n\n(b) \"Large-capacity magazine\" does not mean:\n\n(I) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than fifteen rounds of ammunition;\n\n(II) An attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition; or\n\n(III) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.","path":["Title 18 - CRIMINAL CODE","Article 12 - Offenses Relating to Firearms and Weapons","Part 3 - LARGE-CAPACITY AMMUNITION MAGAZINES"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-18.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"b7a0ab7672d4669bb3599f0bf51f100f373c8a0111856c68aef293df62fbd630","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-12-216","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-12-302"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
