{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-8-102","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 18-8-102","heading":"Obstructing government operations.","body":"(1) (a) A person commits obstructing government operations if the person intentionally obstructs, impairs, or hinders the performance of a governmental function by a public servant by using or threatening to use violence, force, or physical interference or obstacle.\n\n(b) A person commits obstructing government operations if the person repeatedly contacts or calls a public safety emergency call center or public safety entity and the contact or call is not for the legitimate reporting of a public safety concern, to report an emergency, or to seek assistance.\n\n(2) It shall be an affirmative defense that:\n\n(a) The obstruction, impairment, or hindrance was of unlawful action by a public servant; or\n\n(b) The obstruction, impairment, or hindrance was of the making of an arrest; or\n\n(c) The obstruction, impairment, or hindrance of a governmental function was by lawful activities in connection with a labor dispute with the government.\n\n(3) Obstructing government operations is a class 2 misdemeanor.","path":["Title 18 - CRIMINAL CODE","Article 8 - Offenses - Governmental Operations","Part 1 - OBSTRUCTION OF PUBLIC JUSTICE"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-18.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"6a11d5dc34cacd922b3e2f35c5adcbab40aee7c09eb3b32c88e4d937bd2e3e5d","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-8-101","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-8-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
