{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-8-704","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 18-8-704","heading":"Intimidating a witness or victim.","body":"(1) A person commits intimidating a witness or victim if:\n\n(a) By use of a threat, act of harassment as defined in section 18-9-111, or act of harm or injury to any person or property directed to or committed upon:\n\n(I) A witness in any criminal or civil proceeding;\n\n(II) A victim of any crime;\n\n(III) A person he or she believes has been or is to be called or who would have been called to testify as a witness in any criminal or civil proceeding or a victim of any crime;\n\n(IV) A person he or she believes may have information relevant to a criminal investigation;\n\n(V) A member of the witness's family;\n\n(VI) A member of the victim's family;\n\n(VII) A person in close relationship to the witness or victim;\n\n(VIII) A person residing in the same household with the witness or victim;\n\n(IX) A person he or she believes may be able to exert influence upon the witness or victim; or\n\n(X) Any person who has reported a crime or who may be called to testify or who testifies as a witness to or victim of any crime; and\n\n(b) He or she intentionally attempts to or does:\n\n(I) Influence the witness or victim to testify falsely or unlawfully withhold any testimony; or\n\n(II) Induce the witness or victim to avoid legal process summoning him or her to testify; or\n\n(III) Induce the witness or victim to absent himself or herself from an official proceeding; or\n\n(IV) Inflict such harm or injury prior to such testimony or expected testimony; or\n\n(V) Influence the witness, victim, or any person with knowledge of relevant information to withhold information from, or provide false information to, law enforcement, a defense attorney, or a defense investigator.\n\n(2) Intimidating a witness or victim is a class 4 felony.","path":["Title 18 - CRIMINAL CODE","Article 8 - Offenses - Governmental Operations","Part 7 - VICTIMS AND WITNESSES PROTECTION"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-18.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"3a9fded7d52b98aeadee8a9f213fca4ca99f4b62d32d6b0b5caa23068a74335c","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-8-703","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-18-8-705"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
