{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-24-18-308","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 24-18-308","heading":"Use of facial recognition service by agencies - disclosure to criminal defendant required - warrants.","body":"(1) An agency shall disclose its use of a facial recognition service on a criminal defendant to that defendant in a timely manner prior to trial.\n\n(2) In January of each year, any judge who has issued or extended a warrant for the use of a facial recognition service as described in section 24-18-307 during the preceding year, or who has denied approval of such a warrant during that year, shall report to the state court administrator:\n\n(a) The fact that a warrant or extension was applied for;\n\n(b) The fact that the warrant or extension was granted as applied for, was modified, or was denied;\n\n(c) The period of surveillance authorized by the warrant and the number and duration of any extensions of the warrant;\n\n(d) The identity of the applying investigative or law enforcement officer and agency making the application and the person authorizing the application; and\n\n(e) The nature of the public spaces where the surveillance was conducted.\n\n(3) In January of each year, any agency that has applied for a warrant or an extension of a warrant for the use of a facial recognition service to engage in any surveillance as described in section 24-18-307 shall provide to the agency's reporting authority a report summarizing nonidentifying demographic data of individuals named in warrant applications as subjects of surveillance with the use of a facial recognition service.","path":["Title 24 - GOVERNMENT - STATE","Article 18 - Standards of Conduct","Part 3 - USE OF FACIAL RECOGNITION SERVICES BY STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-24.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"7ce74491a8d8b55079e929a8dea9fcb654ec7200f4c82aa1657f10a5cc60d761","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-24-18-307","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-24-18-309"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
