{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-24-72-601","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 24-72-601","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part 6, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n(1) \"Department\" means the department of revenue.\n\n(2) \"Medical information\" means any information contained in the medical record or any information pertaining to the medical, mental health, or health-care services performed at the direction of a physician or other licensed health-care provider that is protected by the physician-patient privilege established by section 13-90-107 (1)(d), C.R.S.\n\n(3) (a) \"Medical record\" means the written or graphic documentation, sound recording, or computer record pertaining to medical, mental health, and health-care services, including medical marijuana services, performed at the direction of a physician or other licensed health-care provider on behalf of a patient by a physician, dentist, nurse, service provider, emergency medical service provider, mental health professional, prehospital provider, or other health-care personnel.\n\n(b) \"Medical record\" includes diagnostic documentation such as X rays, electrocardiograms, electroencephalograms, and other test results and data entered into the prescription drug monitoring program under section 12-280-403.\n\n(4) \"Personal medical information or medical record\" means an individual's medical information or a medical record:\n\n(a) That identifies the individual; or\n\n(b) With respect to which there is a reasonable basis to believe the information can be used to identify the individual.","path":["Title 24 - GOVERNMENT - STATE","Article 72 - Public Records","Part 6 - LIMITS ON GOVERNMENT ACCESS TO PERSONAL MEDICAL INFORMATION"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-24.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"07b7d79a338f45b7db160f9d9bc9d0c3752c55af4bd9f508d393b31bfe50544d","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-24-72-502","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-24-72-602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
