{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-31-30-109","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 31-30-109","heading":"Behavioral health professionals - grant applications encouraged - definition - repeal.","body":"(1) Each municipal police department is encouraged to adopt a policy whereby mental health professionals, to the extent practicable, provide:\n\n(a) On-scene response services to support officers' handling of persons with mental health disorders; and\n\n(b) Counseling services to officers of the police department.\n\n(2) In implementing a policy as described in subsection (1) of this section, a municipal police department shall not require a mental health professional to counsel both a person with a mental health disorder and an officer if, in the judgment of the mental health professional, doing so would constitute a conflict of interest or a breach of a professional code of ethics.\n\n(3) For the purposes of this section, each municipal police department is encouraged to apply annually for a grant from the peace officers behavioral health support and community partnerships grant program created in section 24-32-3501.\n\n(4) As used in this section, \"mental health professional\" means a mental health professional licensed to practice medicine pursuant to article 240 of title 12 or a person licensed as a mental health professional pursuant to article 245 of title 12.\n\n(5) This section is repealed, effective September 1, 2027.","path":["Title 31 - GOVERNMENT - MUNICIPAL","Article 30 - Fire - Police","Part 1 - FIRE, POLICE, OR STREET DEPARTMENT - PAID - CIVIL SERVICE"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-31.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"9cc36560f6b1e8259f56ebc4b0f2ae2e2e999a72b11f64e5625a4fd8299e46ea","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-31-30-108","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-31-30-201"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
