{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-33-6-131","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 33-6-131","heading":"Luring bears - penalty - definition.","body":"(1) Unless otherwise permitted by commission rule, a person that knowingly places food or edible waste in the open in circumstances where there is a reasonable probability of luring a wild bear to the food or edible waste commits a misdemeanor.\n\n(2) (a) This section does not apply to acts related to agriculture, as defined in section 35-1-102 (1).\n\n(b) As used in this section, \"food or edible waste\" does not include live animals or food that is grown in the open prior to the food being harvested.\n\n(3) A person that violates subsection (1) of this section, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed:\n\n(a) Two hundred dollars for a first offense;\n\n(b) One thousand dollars for a second offense; or\n\n(c) Five thousand dollars for a third or subsequent offense.","path":["Title 33 - PARKS AND WILDLIFE","Article 6 - Law Enforcement and Penalties - Wildlife","Part 1 - GENERAL PROVISIONS"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-33.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"7eeb701d36eaa0d65d5b4c8cb5a454dbc9ead4cc39f543acce8ec8c54b4be68c","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-33-6-130","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-33-6-132"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
