{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-40-18-101","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 40-18-101","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this article 18, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n(1) Repealed.\n\n(2) \"Commission\" means the public utilities commission of the state of Colorado.\n\n(2.4) \"Program standard\" means a state safety oversight program standard developed by the commission in conformance with 49 CFR 674, \"State Safety Oversight\".\n\n(2.6) \"Public transportation agency safety plan\" means the documented comprehensive agency safety plan for a rail fixed guideway public transportation system, including a rail transit authority, that is required by 49 U.S.C. sec. 5329 (d) and based on a safety management system, as defined in 49 CFR 673.5.\n\n(3) (a) \"Rail fixed guideway public transportation system\" means a light, heavy, or rapid rail system, monorail, inclined plane, funicular, trolley, or automated guideway used to transport passengers that is not regulated by the federal railroad administration.\n\n(b) \"Rail fixed guideway public transportation system\" does not include:\n\n(I) Funiculars that are passenger tramways as defined in section 12-150-103 (5)(c) and are subject to the jurisdiction of the Colorado passenger tramway safety board created in section 12-150-104; or\n\n(II) Automated people movers that are conveyances, as defined in section 9-5.5-103 (11), and are subject to the jurisdiction of the director of the division of oil and public safety created in section 8-20-101.\n\n(4) \"System safety program plan\" means a document adopted by a transit agency that details its safety policies, objectives, responsibilities, and procedures.\n\n(5) Repealed.\n\n(6) \"Transit agency\" means an entity operating a rail fixed guideway public transportation system.","path":["Title 40 - UTILITIES","Article 18 - Rail Fixed Guideway System Safety Oversight"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-40.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"97614fd32a39955c98f6c34eeae1e40df756bd1d935eb405e4541028bba1dc6b","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-40-17.5-105","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-40-18-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
