{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-42-4-232","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 42-4-232","heading":"Minimum safety standards for motorcycles, autocycles, and low-power scooters.","body":"(1) (a) Except as provided in subsection (1)(b) of this section, a person shall not drive a motorcycle, autocycle, or low-power scooter on a public highway unless the person and any passenger in or on the motorcycle, autocycle, or low-power scooter is wearing goggles or eyeglasses with lenses made of safety glass or plastic; except that this subsection (1) does not apply to a person wearing a helmet containing eye protection made of safety glass or plastic.\n\n(b) A person driving or riding an autocycle need not wear eye protection if the autocycle has:\n\n(I) Three wheels;\n\n(II) A maximum design speed of twenty-five miles per hour or less;\n\n(III) A windshield; and\n\n(IV) Seat belts.\n\n(2) The department shall adopt standards and specifications for the design of goggles and eyeglasses.\n\n(3) Any motorcycle carrying a passenger, other than in a sidecar or enclosed cab, shall be equipped with footrests for such passengers.\n\n(4) Any person who violates any provision of this section commits a class A traffic infraction.","path":["Title 42 - VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC","Article 4 - Regulation of Vehicles and Traffic","Part 2 - EQUIPMENT"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-42.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"371cd8850b6190db7bbd77d0ee99808727aea0399faf485962fded85ca92fca0","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-42-4-231","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-42-4-233"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
