{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-42-4-2401","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 42-4-2401","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part 24, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n(1) \"Event data\" means records of one or more of the following categories of information concerning a motor vehicle, which records are captured by an event data recorder:\n\n(a) Whether the vehicle's airbag deployed;\n\n(b) Vehicle speed;\n\n(c) Vehicle direction;\n\n(d) Vehicle location;\n\n(e) Vehicle steering performance or use;\n\n(f) Vehicle brake performance or use; or\n\n(g) Vehicle seatbelt status or use.\n\n(2) \"Event data recorder\" means a device or feature that is installed by the manufacturer of a motor vehicle for the purpose of capturing or transmitting retrievable event data.\n\n(3) \"Owner\" means:\n\n(a) A person having all the incidents of ownership of a motor vehicle, including legal title to the motor vehicle, regardless of whether the person lends, rents, or creates a security interest in the vehicle;\n\n(b) A person entitled to possession of a motor vehicle as the purchaser under a security agreement; or\n\n(c) A person entitled to possession of a vehicle as lessee under a written lease agreement if the lease agreement is intended to last for more than three months at its inception.\n\n(4) \"Owner's agent\" means a natural person authorized by the owner within the last thirty days or the owner's representative as defined by section 13-20-702 (3).","path":["Title 42 - VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC","Article 4 - Regulation of Vehicles and Traffic","Part 24 - EVENT DATA RECORDERS"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-42.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"7025e3da08cae51f5b58d972507d6481f6ce1f588b17ae249237729d3b03006e","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-42-4-2301","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-42-4-2402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
