{"data":{"id":"us-co/c.r.s.-44-33-102","jurisdiction":"us-co","citation":"C.R.S. § 44-33-102","heading":"Legislative declaration.","body":"(1) The general assembly hereby finds and declares that:\n\n(a) Parents should provide financial support to their minor children who cannot care for themselves;\n\n(b) The state should intervene when parents fail to meet their support obligations;\n\n(c) Children are adversely affected when parents divert their financial support to limited gaming, sports betting, and pari-mutuel wagering;\n\n(d) A parent's winnings from money diverted from a child's support should be applied to the parent's outstanding support obligations;\n\n(e) Section 44-30-102 (1)(c) of the \"Limited Gaming Act of 1991\" recognizes that the limited gaming industry must be assisted in protecting the general welfare of the people of the state;\n\n(f) Victims of crime and all the people of the state are adversely affected when criminal offenders divert restitution to limited gaming, sports betting, and pari-mutuel wagering;\n\n(g) A criminal offender's winnings from money diverted from restitution should be applied to the offender's outstanding criminal court obligations;\n\n(h) An uncollected debt to the state should be deducted from a person's winnings.","path":["Title 44 - REVENUE - REGULATION OF ACTIVITIES","Article 33 - Gambling Payment Intercept Act"],"source_url":"https://olls.info/crs/crs2026-title-44.htm","current_through":"Colorado Revised Statutes 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:37:45Z","sha256":"05bfb42f6411b753467e727543ff6fe1551cf024825e9d4f728285b5cdc1c238","source_id":"us-co","stale":false,"prev":"us-co/c.r.s.-44-33-101","next":"us-co/c.r.s.-44-33-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
