Stat. § 53a-42","heading":"Fines for misdemeanors.","body":"A fine for the conviction of a misdemeanor shall, unless the section of the general statutes that defines or provides the penalty for the crime specifically provides otherwise, be fixed by the court as follows: (1) For a class A misdemeanor, an amount not to exceed two thousand dollars; (2) for a class B misdemeanor, an amount not to exceed one thousand dollars; (3) for a class C misdemeanor, an amount not to exceed five hundred dollars; (4) for a class D misdemeanor, an amount not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars; and (5) for an unclassified misdemeanor, an amount in accordance with the fine specified in the section of the general statutes that defines or provides the penalty for the crime.","path":["TITLE 53a.
