Code § 16-1053","heading":"Composition of the Board; procedural requirements.","body":"(a)\nThe Mayor shall appoint one representative from each of the following District agencies:\n(1)\nMetropolitan Police Department;\n(2)\nOffice of the Chief Medical Examiner;\n(3)\nOffice of the Attorney General;\n(4)\nDepartment of Corrections;\n(5)\nFire and Emergency Medical Services Department;\n(6)\nDepartment of Behavioral Health;\n(7)\nDepartment of Health;\n(8)\nChild and Family Services Agency;\n(9)\nMayor’s Commission on Violence Against Women;\n(10)\nThe Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants; and\n(11)\nThe Office of Unified Communications.\n\n(b)\nThe Mayor shall appoint, or request the designation of, members from federal, judicial, and private agencies or entities with expertise in domestic violence, to include one representative from each of the following:\n(1)\nSuperior Court of the District of Columbia;\n(2)\nOffice of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia;\n(3)\nDistrict of Columbia hospitals;\n(4)\nUniversity legal clinics;\n(5)\nDomestic violence housing organizations;\n(6)\nDomestic violence advocacy organizations; and\n(7)\nThe federally recognized state coalition for domestic violence.\n\n(c)\nThe Mayor shall additionally appoint 8 community representatives, none of whom shall be employees of the District, in accordance with [§ 1-523.01(f)].\n\n(d)\nGovernmental appointees shall serve at the will of the Mayor, or of the federal or judicial body designating their availability for appointment. Community representatives shall serve for 3-year terms.\n\n(e)\nVacancies in membership shall be filled in the same manner in which the original appointment was made.\n\n(f)\nThe Board shall select a Chairperson according to rules set forth by the Board.\n\n(g)\nThe Board shall establish quorum and other procedural requirements as it considers necessary.","path":["Title 16.
