Code § 2-1208.34","heading":"Innovation Space and Marketplace report.","body":"(a)\nWithin 180 days of the effective date of this subchapter, the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development shall submit to the Mayor and the Council a report on opportunities for establishing a District-sponsored Innovation Space and Marketplace to support the local maker community by providing a central venue in which members can work and display and sell their products.\n\n(b)\nThe report shall:\n(1)\nIdentify District property for potential use as an Innovative Space and Marketplace;\n(2)\nEstimate the cost of developing potential sites for such use;\n(3)\nEstimate the costs of operating and maintaining the site;\n(4)\nAssess the availability of public-private partnerships to develop an Innovation Space and Marketplace;\n(5)\nAssess the availability of private donations, grants, or sponsorships to support the Innovation Space and Marketplace and the purchase of a wide range of equipment, such as tools for:\n(A)\n3D printing and prototyping;\n(B)\nWoodworking;\n(C)\nMetal working and welding;\n(D)\nSewing;\n(E)\nScreen printing;\n(F)\nElectronics; and\n(G)\nRobotics; and\n(6)\nConsider the most efficient management option for an Innovative Space and Marketplace.\n\n(c)\nIn preparing the report, the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development shall work with a variety of stakeholders, including:\n(1)\nDiverse members of the maker community;\n(2)\nLocal creative organizations;\n(3)\nUniversities and colleges;\n(4)\nThe Commission on Arts and Humanities; and\n(5)\nThe Department.","path":["Title 2.
