Code § 2-1565.02","heading":"Establishment and duties.","body":"(a)\nThere is established the Youth Council of the District of Columbia.\n\n(b)\nThe Youth Council members shall advise the Council of the District of Columbia (“Council”) by:\n(1)\nCommenting upon legislation and policies that impact on youth;\n(2)\nPresenting issues and recommendations to improve the lives of youth;\n(3)\nMonitoring the programs and policies that affect youth to ensure that they are achieving the intended results; and\n(4)\nWorking with other youth organizations in the District to:\n(A)\nProvide mutual support;\n(B)\nCollaborate on shared issues and interests;\n(C)\nAdvise one another on ways to increase the effectiveness of their organizations;\n(D)\nAssist in the start-up of new youth organizations, including youth organizations for each ward of the District;\n(E)\nPrepare youth for leadership positions by providing appropriate training; and\n(F)\nCreate more youth and adult partnerships.\n\n(c)\nThe Youth Council shall conduct periodic seminars for members regarding leadership, government, and the Council.\n\n(d)\n(1)\nThe Youth Council shall:\n(A)\nSet its own priorities;\n(B)\nDetermine the function of its subcommittees;\n(C)\nEstablish standards of conduct;\n(D)\nEstablish ministerial procedures; and\n(E)\nDetermine its needs for the convening of meetings.\n(2)\nYouth Council members shall review and consider the procedures and rules of the Council, as they may be appropriate for the Youth Council.\n\n(e)\nBeginning one year after its first meeting and every year thereafter, the Youth Council shall publish a report of its activities, recommendations, and accomplishments, which shall be:\n(1)\nDistributed to the Council;\n(2)\nPlaced on the Internet;\n(3)\nDistributed to each public library, and the library of each public and public charter school; and\n(4)\nMade available to the public upon request.\n\n(f)\nThe Youth Council shall meet at least 4 times a year, including at least one public hearing on issues of importance to youth.","path":["Title 2.
