Code § 2-576","heading":"Notice of meetings.","body":"(a)\nBefore meeting in open or closed session, a public body shall provide advance public notice as follows:\n(1)\nNotice shall be provided when meetings are scheduled and when the schedule is changed. A public body shall establish an annual schedule of its meetings, if feasible, and shall update the schedule throughout the year. A public body shall attempt to provide notice as early as possible, but not less than 48 hours or 2 business days, whichever is greater, before a meeting.\n(2)\nNotice shall be provided by posting:\n(A)\nIn the office of the public body or a location that is readily accessible to the public; and\n(B)\nOn the website of the public body or the District government.\n(3)\nExcept for meetings of boards of trustees for public charter schools, notice of meetings shall be published in the District of Columbia Register as timely as practicable.\n(4)\nWhen a public body finds it necessary to call an emergency meeting to address an urgent matter, and notwithstanding paragraphs (1) and (3) of this subsection, notice shall be provided at the same time notice is provided to members and may be provided pursuant to any method in paragraph (2) of this subsection.\n(5)\nEach meeting notice shall include the date, time, location, and planned agenda to be covered at the meeting. If the meeting or any portion of the meeting is to be closed, the notice shall include, if feasible, a statement of intent to close the meeting or any portion of the meeting, including citations to the reason for closure under § 2-575(b), and a description of the matters to be discussed.\n\n(b)\n(1)\nFor the purposes of the Council, the appropriate officer of the Council shall provide notice pursuant to paragraph (3) of this subsection when a gathering of a quorum of the Council that is not otherwise required by law or rule to be noticed in advance took place, at which Councilmembers considered public business, regardless whether the gathering was held in person, by telephone, or by video conference, and the gathering of Councilmembers was not noticed in advance.\n(2)\nThe convener of a gathering of Councilmembers that meets the notice requirement in paragraph (1) of this subsection shall notify the appropriate Council officer within 24 business hours after the gathering and provide the information required by paragraph (3)(B) of this subsection.\n(3)\nNotice provided pursuant to paragraph (1) of this subsection shall:\n(A)\nBe posted by the Council on the website of the Council no later than 24 business hours after receiving notice that a gathering of Councilmembers took place; and\n(B)\nInclude the date and approximate time the gathering of Councilmembers took place, and the topic of the gathering.","path":["Title 2.
