Code § 22-4505","heading":"Exceptions to § 22-4504.","body":"(a)\nThe provisions of § 22-4504(a), as they pertain to a pistol, and (a-1), shall not apply to:\n(1)\nA person engaged in the business of manufacturing, repairing, or dealing in firearms, or their agents, employees, and representatives, who possess, carry, or use a pistol in the ordinary course of that business; or\n(2)\nA person while carrying a pistol, transported in accordance with § 22-4504.02:\n(A)\nFrom the place of purchase to the person's home or place of business;\n(B)\nTo a place of repair, or back from that place to the person's home or place of business;\n(C)\nWhile moving goods from one place of abode or business to another; or\n(D)\nTo or from any lawful recreational firearm-related activity.\n\n(b)\nThe provisions of § 22-4504(a) and (a-1) shall not apply to:\n(1)\nThe concealed carrying of a firearm by a qualified law enforcement officer who is carrying the identification required by 18 U.S.C. § 926B(d);\n(2)\nThe concealed carrying of a firearm by a qualified retired law enforcement officer who is carrying the identification required by 18 U.S.C. § 926C(d);\n(3)\nMembers of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps of the United States, or of the National Guard or Organized Reserves when on duty and duly authorized to carry a firearm; and\n(4)\nOfficers or employees of the United States when duly authorized to carry a firearm.\n\n(c)\nFor the purposes of this section, the term:\n(1)\n\"Qualified law enforcement officer\" shall have the same meaning as provided in 18 U.S.C. § 926B(c) and (f).\n(2)\n\"Qualified retired law enforcement officer\" shall have the same meaning as provided in 18 U.S.C. § 926C(c) and (e)(2).\n(3)\n\"Recreational firearm-related activity\" includes a firearms training and safety class.","path":["Title 22.
