Code § 31-3171.07","heading":"Advisory board.","body":"(a)\nIn addition to the executive board, there shall be a standing advisory board consisting of 9 members, who shall be residents of the District.\n\n(b)\nThe executive board may create additional advisory boards as it considers appropriate.\n\n(c)\nThe executive board shall solicit the recommendations of, and consult with, the advisory boards on:\n(1)\nInsurance standards;\n(2)\nCovered benefits;\n(3)\nPremiums;\n(4)\nPlan certification;\n(5)\nInternet technology system development; and\n(6)\nAny other policy or operational issues, within the executive board’s discretion.\n\n(d)\nThe executive board shall:\n(1)\nSelect the members of the advisory boards;\n(2)\nEstablish the terms of the members;\n(3)\nEnsure that at least one member of the standing advisory board demonstrates expertise as a health insurance broker or agent;\n(4)\nAppoint the chair of the standing advisory board;\n(5)\nDetermine the residency requirement of any additional advisory board created; and\n(6)\nAppoint the chair of any additional advisory boards created.\n\n(e)\n(1)\nAn advisory board member may continue to serve until the appointment of his or her successor.\n(2)\nVacancies shall be filled by appointment by the executive board for the unexpired term of the appointee’s predecessor.\n\n(f)\nEach person appointed to an advisory board shall have demonstrated and acknowledged expertise on issues related to at least one of the following groups:\n(1)\nHealth professionals;\n(2)\nHealth insurance consumers;\n(3)\nDisease and demographic-specific advocacy groups;\n(4)\nCommercial sector health plans;\n(5)\nPublic sector health plans;\n(6)\nHealth insurance brokers;\n(7)\nHealth care consumer interest advocacy;\n(8)\nHealth care foundations;\n(9)\nExchange consumers; or\n(10)\nSuch other interests considered necessary.","path":["Title 31.
