Code § 38-824.01","heading":"Physical activity goals.","body":"(a)\nIt shall be the goal of the District of Columbia for children to engage in physical activity for at least 60 minutes each day or for the time period recommended for specific age groups in § 38-824.02.\n\n(b)\nPublic schools and public charter schools shall promote this goal.\n\n(c)\nPublic schools and public charter schools shall seek to maximize physical activity by means including:\n(1)\nExtending the school day;\n(2)\nEncouraging students to walk or bike to school;\n(3)\nPromoting active recess;\n(4)\nIncluding physical activity in before-school and after-school activities;\n(5)\nSupporting athletic programs;\n(6)\nIntegrating movement into classroom instruction and classroom instructional breaks;\n(7)\nEntering into shared-use agreements with organizations that provide physical activity programming for children outside of the normal school day; and\n(8)\nUsing physical activity as a reward for student achievement and good behavior.","path":["Title 38.
