Code § 4-1371.04","heading":"Composition of the Child Fatality Review Committee.","body":"(a)\nThe Mayor shall appoint a minimum of one representative from appropriate programs providing services to children within the following public agencies:\n(1)\nDepartment of Human Services;\n(2)\nDepartment of Health;\n(3)\nOffice of the Chief Medical Examiner;\n(4)\nChild and Family Services Agency;\n(5)\nMetropolitan Police Department;\n(6)\nFire and Emergency Medical Services Department,\n(7)\nD.C. Public Schools;\n(8)\nDistrict of Columbia Housing Authority;\n(9)\nOffice of the Attorney General;\n(10)\nDepartment of Behavioral Health;\n(11)\nDepartment of Health Care Finance;\n(12)\nDepartment of Youth Rehabilitation Services;\n(13)\nOffice of the State Superintendent of Education;\n(14)\nPublic Charter School Board; and\n(15)\nDirector of Gun Violence Prevention.\n\n(a-1)\nThe Council Chairpersons with jurisdiction over judiciary and child and family services matters, or their designees, shall serve as Committee members.\n\n(b)\nThe Mayor shall appoint, or request the designation of, members from federal, judicial, and private agencies and the general public who are knowledgeable in child development, maternal and child health, child abuse and neglect, prevention, intervention, treatment or research, with due consideration given to representation of ethnic or racial minorities and to geographic areas of the District of Columbia. The appointments shall include representatives from the following:\n(1)\nSuperior Court of the District of Columbia;\n(2)\nOffice of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia;\n(3)\nDistrict of Columbia hospitals where children are born or treated;\n(4)\nCollege or university schools of social work; and\n(5)\nMayor’s Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect.\n\n(c)\nThe Mayor shall additionally appoint 8 community representatives, none of whom shall be employees of the District, in accordance with § 1-523.01(f).\n\n(c-1)\nThe Council shall appoint a minimum of one representative from the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children.\n\n(d)\nGovernmental appointees shall serve at the will of the Mayor, the Council in the case of the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children, or of the federal or judicial body designating their availability for appointment. Community representatives shall serve for 3-year terms.\n\n(e)\nVacancies in membership shall be filled in the same manner in which the original appointment was made.\n\n(f)\nThe Committee shall select co-chairs according to rules set forth by the Committee.\n\n(g)\nThe Committee shall establish quorum and other procedural requirements as it considers necessary.","path":["Title 4.
