Code § 4-504","heading":"Crime Victims Compensation Advisory Commission; establishment; membership; duties.","body":"(a)\nA Crime Victims Compensation Advisory Commission is established and shall consist of 15 members appointed by the Chief Judge of the Court. The Chief Judge shall designate one of the members as the Commission’s Chairperson. The Chief Judge may make an appointment to fill an unexpired term.\n\n(b)\nThe Commission's members shall:\n(1)\nServe for a term of 3 years;\n(2)\nBe eligible for reappointment;\n(3)\nServe without compensation; and\n(4)\nElect any additional officers necessary for the efficient discharge of their duties.\n\n(c)\nThe Commission shall be composed of:\n(1)\nThe Chairperson of the Council committee with jurisdiction over victims' compensation or that person’s designee;\n(2)\nOne representative from the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia;\n(3)\nOne representative from the Victim Witness Assistance Unit of the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia;\n(4)\nOne person engaged full-time in law enforcement;\n(5)\nOne member of the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia;\n(6)\nOne hospital staff person involved with emergency services;\n(7)\nOne representative of the Department of Corrections;\n(8)\nOne person licensed to provide mental health counseling;\n(9)\nOne crime victim or survivor;\n(10)\nOne member of the public who has demonstrated a knowledge of, and sensitivity to, victim issues; and\n(11)\nFive victim service providers representing victims of homicide, sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, and drunk driving.\n\n(d)\nThe Commission shall:\n(1)\nProvide information, training, and technical assistance to the Court and be available to consult with and advise the Court on rules and regulations for the administration of the Program;\n(2)\nDevelop ongoing public awareness efforts and assist the Court in publicizing the Program; and\n(3)\nReview the annual report submitted by the Court to the Council of the District of Columbia, advise the Council of deficiencies in the Program, and suggest necessary changes.","path":["Title 4.
